road trip day 12: old friends and old town

After a great lunch date with some old high school friends, I stopped in Old Town Warrenton for some window shopping. Such a sweet town with a rich Civil War era history.

At a charity (thrift) shop I found these almost new Anne Klein sandals for $5. A great score!

Tomorrow we are going to pick the boys up from the cousin extravaganza at my brother Rob's house, and then go for a drive through my neighborhood I grew up in. They will see the run (river) I dropped into from a rope swing, the trails I rode motorcycles on, and the woods I built forts in. It will be meaningful to me to have them see these places, but after two solid days of pizza and video games, I am counting on less-than-thrilled reactions. Detox will be more like it.

Still having fun here. Friday night the married kids come, and then we go to the ocean Saturday morning for the week. Am I blessed?

I grew up in Fairfax City so I'm loving your travel journal. :)

Is the guy one of your "old" friends you had lunch with? Hmmm...
Your pictures are awesome! So glad you're having fun.

Sounds like a perfect vacation, good friends, family, food, shopping, and it isn't even over.

Yes you are blessed. What a marvelous trip you are having. I know the "walk down memory lane" will be so meaningful for you tomorrow.
I loved the photos of that street you shopped at. I could spend a lot of time doing that.
