day 313: food thoughts

Is it just me, or do a lot of you end a busy day with food on the brain? In a trance-like state I pulled out of the parking lot at my school at 12:45 and drove straight to Panda Express, where I self-medicated with orange chicken. Yes, I feel much better now.

Food is so connected to feelings and memories.

Seafood=growing up on the eastern seaboard.
Kale, soup= Vo.
Pastrami burgers=wedding night (hey, there was a burger joint between the reception center and the hotel and we were hungry!).

So, I sit here in the food court reading, writing, and breathing fire from my Kung Pao.

I love Panda Express. Orange Chicken, mmmm! And the closest one to me is about a half hour away, so it's a rare treat! Great, now all I want is orange chicken.

Bologna sandwiches=wedding night.
That was 100 years ago when bologna was a delicacy!

Food, smells, songs, they all bring back a flood of memories. Hope you enjoyed your orange chicken! Yum!

Yes! And yesterday after a very long day with two little girls, the minute they left I drove to McDonalds and got myself an ice cream. I felt much better by the time I got home.

I think it's even worse to start a busy day with food on the mind because from the minute I wake up, all I can think about is what I will make for dinner.

I often feel the same way, although all I ever want is chocolate or cookies or ice cream or donuts or ... I need to go eat some junk food now. Thanks.

Oh yes, Oh yes. Must go eat now.

Have you tried the honey walnut shrimp? Tasty!

I think I have food on the brain continuously. Comfort food can equate to anything from raisin toast to mac cheese to something sweet depending on my mood.

Comfort food is called for sometimes. I don't know if there is a Panda Express here. There is a really great oriental buffet and people who want take out fill up a take out box and it is weighed and they pay according to the weight. I think next time we will do that, we tend to want to get up and go for seconds when we are sitting in the restaurant.

Food is intricately bound up with our memories, so true.

Homemade Bread
Homemade Ice Cream
Tomato soup and cheese sandwiches

I could do a lovely list of food and why I love it and the memories attached.

I want orange chicken now.

Absolutely! We don't have a Panda Express, but I've inhaled a Figaro's Pizza many a time under the same circumstances. (well, not the whole thing, but that's just because people are watching most of the time, haha.)

No, it's not just you.
