my very own variety show

I have found, in my 22+ years of parenting, that a little goofing off with the kids goes a long way.

I have memories of all of us pulling our t-shirts over our bent knees and hobbling around.  My oldest 2 would wobble right off of the couch and I would laugh so hard that I couldn't breathe.  I still see it in my mind.  Or the way they would pull their sweat pants up over their shoulders and walk around with their arms hidden in their pant legs.  Creepy, but heart-warming.  Because they were doing it for each other, but mostly for me.  Making mom laugh until she almost keeled over was a favorite past time around here.

Silly voices.  Silly faces.  Movie quotes.  Photo booth on the mac.  Whatever it takes to leave the grind where it belongs and enjoy some lighthearted time with the guys.

fooling around is one of life's joys....too bad we don't make more time for it....I'm sure your kids adore you for all the fun you helped create...that is a gift!

Oh! Goofing off is the best way to connect with kids--young and old. I sure love that.

That is a great picture:) And how have I never heard of this pulling the shirt over the knee business?

You are the best kind of mom.

Awesome.

My kids love it when I burp.

I have to remind myself to play with my kids sometimes. Isn't that sort of pathetic? But when I do remind myself, it's all good. Like the British Accent Dinners, where we can't hear you ask to pass the tomatoes unless you say it "to-mah-toes" - or the one really ugly face I do that I'll never show their dad...

So cute and so true. If I'm not mistaken, your kids are the ones who loaded the weaponry arsenal onto your iPhone so you could shoot yourself when you got bored. Lobbing that grenade at the speaker was the BEST!

I should have done more of that with my children. Good memories.

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy, as they do grow up. But there are still laughs to be had.

We have to enjoy fun times with the kids while they still want to hang with us! :)

It's those impromptu unplanned things that are the best memories. My kids don't make me laugh but I try to make them laugh. My big guy could always be cajoled out of a dangerously bad mood when I would threaten to chop up his toes and fry them in butter and garlic for breakfast. Once he figured out I was totally kidding, it lost its charm but it made him quite hysterical well into his teens.
