now and then

The husband stumbled on this photo last night and the first thing I thought when I saw it was, My blog friends have GOT to see that!

As much as older people sometimes dismiss modern technology as an emotionless, cold way to communicate, too many of us younger people dismiss the old ways. Hand-written letters and journals still have their place and purpose. Just get your hands on an old letter from a grandmother and you'll know of what I speak.

I am not sure if this antique computer is functional, but doesn't it make you think? How about an old-fashioned challenge to write (yes, with pen and paper) someone a letter this holiday season? We can do it. I think the pointy part with the ink coming out goes down toward the paper...

How funny you are! I have been handwriting Christmas cards and have found that my handwriting has seriously deteriorated. sigh . . .love the photo! That's amazing!

Wow. Is all i have to say about that photo. Such a visual anachronism. You make a great point here. I love that you added your own signature. I still get all fluttery when I find even a scrap of paper with my mom's handwriting on it.

That is really hilarious! I love the photo! I have been trying to send actual cards to people for birthdays and whatnot, but it takes a real effort!

Thanks for the directions :) That picture is awesome. In the restaurant we ate in when my "blog friend" was here two weeks ago there were some funky ancient calculators that were really cool. We were trying to figure out how you would use them. Fascinating.

Shoot, I forgot to say that your signature totally matches you. That's because it's lovely.

Can you imagine how hard, not to mention tedious (and what if you made a mistake) writing on gold plates must have been?!?!

Nice post!

Whew! Thanks for the tip regarding writing instruments. I like to use the word "instrument" because actually putting pen to paper seems like such a formal way to communicate. :)

Your reminder to actually write something in the holiday cards this year is a good one. Usually our pre-printed, defined by the printing company greeting is all that our family and friends get.
