i am

I spent a few brainy hours with my friend Charrette last night where we attended a book launch at a museum and then enjoyed some uplifting conversation with each other. Food for the soul.

The author was reading a passage from his book and spoke about the way we are all naturally artistic. When someone asked him years ago about his abilities, he responded that nobody ever told him he wasn't an artist, so he went with it. I like this philosophy. We can until we start thinking we can't.

The blank slate theory doesn't allow for much of this idea. Is my slate blank or filled with chalk words listing what I am good at? Listing what I might use to help other people? Listing my potential? And who holds the eraser?

Wow. These three little paragraphs shell out of a lot of cool philosophy. I'm going to have to chew on this soul food for a while.

I don't have the answers but as usual, I will pretend I will. We all have the potential to be like our Heavenly Father which would include artistic talents and everything else. We each hold the eraser for ourselves. Thanks for making me think about this today of all days. I can't allow one unenlightened person (clearly she didn't get the dry humor of Miss D since she said her idea of razor sharp wit is the commentors on TAMN's blog)to prompt me to erase any future potential I might wish to pursue in my writing. So there, nasty Miss D reviewer!!

Good thoughts -------chalk eh, (colored chalk??) mine would be all smudged, cause I am still trying to figure it all out. I guess WE are the ones who ultimately hold the eraser

Okay, so this is really interesting to think about, but I'm so shallow that the MOST interesting part of the post was the "I spent a few brainy hours with my friend Charrette last night".

I think it's sort of bad that I think of you guys a little bit like celebrities. (without any of the dumb stuff about celebrities, of course)

LisAway -- I can tell you from personal experience that Kazzy and Charrette are far more fabulous than any celebrity I can think of.

I wish I could have been there with the two of you! :)

I just love how you think, lady. Thank you for sharing it. Your words always bring fresh insight.

WOW, Kaz! Who holds the eraser, indeed. That reminds me of the Ayn Rand quote that goes like this: "The question isn't who is going to let Me; it is who is going to stop Me." Awesome, Kaz. :-)

Oh, By the way......Aside from being Ayn Randish (Except Ayn could not be a trillionth as cool as YOU, Kaz-and she was a bit of a wacky character with some beliefs that are well, ones that I don't agree with AT ALL), It also reminds Me a bit of Elizabeth Cady stanton's "Solitude of Self". EVERYONE-AND I MEAN EVERYONE SHOULD READ IT!!!!!!!!

I like this.

I wish I know who holds the eraser. Today I feel like I need to erase all of me and start over.
