911
When my friend was a cub scout leader years ago they took a trip to our town's police station, where one of the boys proceeded to dial 911 from the lobby phone. When one of the officers came out to find the culprit it must have been a bit embarrassing for the leaders, and even the boys who were there to learn more about law enforcement.I have reflected on this funny experience over the years and find it a great metaphor for our own lives. How many times do we get to stand right in the midst of God and communicate with Him? Unlike our little cub scout example, where he was obviously and overtly in the middle of the police station, sometimes we are standing in His presence without realizing it.
I hold the receiver ready to talk to God when I kneel beside my bed, when I spend time with my children, when I look across the table at a restaurant at my husband, who loves me. I hold the receiver when I read a meaningful book, or when I am served by someone else. I call, He answers.

Great metaphor for sure. Kazzy you write about beautiful inspiring things. I will remember that.
Wow, your friend must have been absolutely mortified to have a 6' 4" bullet proof vest wearing law enforcement officer bust into the lobby of the police station, where she was trying to corral a pack of wolves (well, Wolf Cubs)into a corner and have said officer ask who had dialed 911, not once but twice, from the pay phone that also happened to be in the corral corner.
I would have been embarrassed, hypothetically of course, if it had been me...
Very cool analogy.
Wendy- thanks!
Luann- yeah, that must have been embarrassing... hmmm
Ha! I had a feeling it was Luann who got to endure the embarrassment of that day-by her comment. Karen, I like your analogy. You have some great insight.
And how nice is it that he does not use call-waiting?! Beautiful post, Kazzy.
So very thought provoking! How often do we call when He is already right there?
I love that you mention in the last paragraph that God is present not just when we pray but when we live and love.
I love how you always get me thinking - and laughing, too.
Thanks, lady.
Ummm...Do you think that means that when Josh set off the fire alarm at church he was also setting off a spiritual alarm?
He was five...but it was still traumatic!
