my name is kazzy, and i am an electroholic
Isn't it the younger generation that is supposed to be hooked on technology? The teens? The twenty-somethings?We are one of those five-cell-phone, three-lap-top, one-desk-top families. Scary to see it in print, but it's true. We are plugged in. But we still seem to get a lot done around here, and I would love to think the electronics helped us out in that regard. Who knows?
All I know is that my 12-year old fell climbing up the few stairs to our front door the other day and we haven't been the same since. See, he smashed the screen on his cell phone and changed everything. We have been swapping SIM cards in and out of my phone, so that when he walks to church or goes to a friend's down the street I can reach him and he can reach me. And I have been running around to cell phone stores looking for a new phone, so that I can just give him mine.
But here's another sign that I have a problem. Whatever phone I picked up and considered buying had to pass the test. Can I blog from this little shiny device? Can I be heard? Can I easily find my friends on here?
I think I feel the static electricity leaving my body...

You are very technologically savvy! Is there a 12 step program to help people like you? :) Good luck finding the right phone.
Whenever I consider saving money by giving up one of our two cell phones (the boys don't need one--yet--and my daughter and I share) I wonder what the heck I ever did without one? We got one for when one of us was down at the pool with the Big Guy should he go bonkers and we needed back up. We soon found it was useful for so many things in so many ways. I don't leave the house without it, just in case I get in a car accident and I only have strength left in my broken body to dial 911On those rare occassions when I am phoneless, I feel quite paranoid. I have to keep telling myself I have gotten in the car without a cell phone many more times than I have with one---but I still can't shake the feeling that being without one spells certain doom. I'll introduce you to my boring basic model when I'm there. :)
Keep it up, Kaz! Cha-cha (lol) and all of Your Buddies (I) LOVE being in touch. There is nothing wrong with electroholism. ;-)
What is it with the Luddites? I think being connected is great, as long as you can turn everything off when you feel like it without any anxiety. And I totally can.
I am SO with you on this one. But you already knew that. ;)
I can't wait to see what phone you get. I'm itchy to get a new one too.
I am just the opposite -- I have a cell phone ---HAVE being the operative word. I hate using it, but I don't like talking on the phone anyway. I'll call my kids or take 1/2 to send a little text and then turn it off.
My kids say "how can we respond or get ahold of you if you keep turning it off" Well, I say, I have it for emergencies only.
I have a lap top (just got) which I am loving as it helps me multi-task.
I should have been a pioneer -- well, only if I could still have my tv, microwave, and washing machine, that sorta stuff
Wow.
I really do think that we need to at least get one more computer. My husband and I argue too much over the one we have.
Yup, you're totally addicted :)
That is funny! I know what you mean. Right now it is 8:30 p.m. and I am downstairs on our lap top and Jason is upstairs on the desk top computer. Connects you and at the same time seperates you. Just depends on what you are doing. Good luck in finding a new phone.
I love a little tech too! And my daughter dropped her cell the other day. If the darn economy would just pick up, I'd love to get a fancy phone for me and give her mine:)
Ooooo...you have an excuse to get a new phone! (Er...maybe we should both find a good 12-step program.)
We can go to to Electoholic Anonymous together. You described your family and you could have described mine. And don't forget to add iPod Touchs for everyone :-)
