no umbrellas necessary
I once read the quote, Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.
I recently commented on a friend's blog about the rainy Sunday a few years back when I drove the kids home from church and then we jumped around in the deep water running down the gutters.
Yes, I was in my dress and high heels, and at first my kids stared in disbelief when I suggested a little fun. But soon it was a family affair (except for the husband who was still at the church), and we found ourselves soaked in water and in spontaneity and loving every wet minute of it.
Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet, and a small few dance and wave at the passing cars.

Great thoughts. I definitely need to dance ni the rain more often!
Congrats on your job offer, too!
That's my Kazzy....happy to hear you were offered the teaching position. See you soon...
Kazzy I love you love you and all your thought provoking posts that really get to me. That is so beautifull -------we need to walk in the rain and dance --anyone can just get wet. Awesome!!!!
You are such a fun mom!!! I remember as a child going out to play on our flooded street. Will have to try it again and see if it is as much fun.
It's all about attitude and perspective, isn't it? And lately I feel like mine really needs some adjusting . . sigh
One day, when Miles was two, we watched the pouring rain from our porch. All of the sudden I grabbed his hand and we ran into it and jumped in the gutters. This reminded me of that day. I'll never forget it. The look on his face! It was so much fun.
We need to do that in so many ways in life, huh?
Great post, lady.
I'm ready to get wet instead of shirking away from the joy of rain.
If anyone told my Grandma that they didn't want to go out in the rain because they'd get wet, she would always say, "We're neither sugar nor salt, we won't melt." Maybe she should have said, "we won't dissolve" but I still got the picture and I get the picture of you jumping around in the gutter in your dress and heels...and it's a great picture!
I have very fond memories of running in rain gutters as a kid. We didn't have much, but we knew how to make our own fun!
I'm a bona fide puddle splasher.
I LOVE jumping in puddles and walking through the gutters when it's rained! That's one of the best activities...I just hate when it's too cold to truly enjoy it.
I USED to be a puddle stomper. At BYU my roommate and I would always play in the rain. We loved it so much and we'd go from apartment to apartment of people in our ward to invite them to join us. Really they would just take one look at our drenchedness and kindly decline.
I love the rain.
:-D I want to be LESS UNDER THE UMBRELLA, and You KNOW what I am talking about, Kaz! Puddles, Here I COME!!!!!!!!!! :-D
I wish I were more like the "Dance & wave people."
Rain. . .
Love it. Love to walk in it. Love to wander around some gardens in it. Love to drive my car through big puddles where the splash completely envelopes us (I miss those days in Washington).
Mmmmm. . .
I love that quote! Its really got so much truth in it, and I'm thinking that all too often I'm just getting wet. Thanks for the thought today.
I absolutely love this post! I think that's my new favorite quote - we're totally going to dance AND wave next time!!
LOVE this!
