GNO

Sometimes a Girls' Night Out is just what the doctor ordered.  As my husband is busy getting his presentation ready for an academic conference this weekend, I am packing his suitcase (yes, I am kinda old school that way) and making plans that have to do with dinner out with girlfriends, maybe a movie, maybe some window shopping.  Sure, I will miss him, but I try and be efficient with my regenerating.  So while he is away I will power up with some girl time.

I am a people person.  I like meeting new people.  I like hearing peoples' stories.  I like laughing with people, crying with people, working with people.  It is not only a fun way to spend time, but has become essential to my mental and emotional well-being.  I know that about myself.  When I start to get a little jittery about my life it is usually because I have slipped into some kind of isolation mode, with school work or paper work.

Anybody with me on this?

Sort of with you. I like to think I would be more social if I lived in America. I think of myself as the person I am at church: outgoing, talkative, listener, laugher, rather than the hermit I really am during the week (for which I have a list of excuses. ugh.).

I hope you have an excellent time regenerating!

Have a wonderful GNO! Sometimes, you just need the company, laughter, and understanding of other women. Hubbies are wonderful, (I can't breathe without mine) but sometimes you just need a girls chat. =D

I would just about give anything for a GNO. I will be ready next month!

I'm with you - I'm a people person too! Have a great night out - I'm sure you will have heaps of fun!

I'm both! I love to hole up and work in isolation...and sometimes I love to be social....but mostly I'm looking forward to my husband coming home today. He has been away working for 6 weeks and that is a long haul. Now I will pick up! Have a great night out!

I like that you added "crying with people"...women are great at that, aren't we?!
You're like me, one of my favorite things this life affords is the opportunities to make new friends!
Have a blast!

I'm just the opposite. I live for the isolation periods:)

Yes, I'm with you! Just 2000 miles away :(

And I pack my husbands suitcase too. Just because.

Amen!

I actually started a community GNO in our area, meeting at a local restaurant for dessert and girly gab time. It's been FABULOUS. I always come home with a face sore from laughing, and a heart full from the quieter interludes where we just tell it like it is. We need that sometimes.

That is really cool, Kim.

I'm not a people person, but when I don't get enough grown-up talking time, a black cloud hangs over me until I do. I love getting away from the house with women after the kids are asleep, book club, game night, GNO, even "Relief Society Meetings" sometimes do the trick.

I tend to be more of a 'girls day out' kind of gal. I like to be home at night, even if it means that I'm home alone.

But if I lived by you, I'd totally join your GNO!

I am with you on this 100%
But I think I have to get used to more isolation now that I am up here.
and that part kinda sucks

I MISS my girl time.

I have to say I am totally with you on this!!
My husband traveled this week for work and it was just a super busy week - I need people. So I am so glad I get to get busy tomorrow morning decorating for our ward party!!

I hope you had a great time and got what you needed out of the event. Sorry I wasn't available. Crazy week.

I am the opposite. Jittery means I've spent too much time around other people and need some alone time. I do like the ocassional GNO, though.

My husband says an introvert is someone who recharges by spending time unplugged from other people and an extrovert is someone who recharges by being plugged into other people. I'm definitely like you.
