four balloons for art city days
The dog barks as he hears the puffing of the balloons as they almost pass over our house, the passengers close enough to wave to us little people below.
I grab my iPhone and run outside, already dressed early for my impending workout. My husband is fast on my heels in his orange plaid flannel pj pants. We start snapping photos as we borrow neighbors' front yards to get the best angles.
My main intent is to send a photo to my missionary in Mexico as a little slice of home.
These things matter.
These little traditions that are reminders of family time.
When we crawl out of bed to watch balls of color cast shadows on our roofs.

I love the giant pig!
I know! A total icon around here. :)
They look close enough to touch! I was hoping you had a picture of Gid in his flannel pajama pants!
such a nice looking neighborhood...homey ...with a little excitement brewing....love the modern look of your blog....really eye catching!
I missed the boat on that one, Miss C.
And thanks MG. I like this design. And I like my WWII neighborhood too!
We often have hot air balloons around here too - they are so fun to see, especially when they come that close - very cool!!
Great idea sending a slice of life to your missionary!!
What a lovely slice of home!
Oh my, missionaries and a slice of home.....I had to catch my breath.
I so love sweet mothers...
fun picture! What is Art City Days?
I loved this post and I used it, with your name attached, this morning in my blog....I hope you like it. You were my muse this morning. thank you!1
Your missionary will certainly smile at these!
I can't get over how close they look to your home. I bet your missionary is going to have some fond memories.
Sunday morning I left my meeting at 8:15 and drove home, all the time staring at the most enormous balloon landing behind a neighbor's house. They are SO BIG up close. I wanted it to stay all day. But somehow the teams clean them up so fast that my kids missed it. Poo. But it was a delight to me.
That looks so awesome.
They do balloon lift off things in the Tetons every 4th of July. I've never been but now you have made me want to go.
Your son is going to love getting the photo.
The pig one was floating above our elementary school one day during the last week of school. So many of the lower grade teachers took their classes out side to star at it. Children love that balloon.
They sure where close to your house.
Those two balloons on the right (the pig and the rainbow-ish one) are fond, fond memories from my childhood. We have a picture of Ali and I at ages 3 and 5 sitting on the roof of our car with those exact balloons in the background.
