guests

We are between homes right now.  Sold one and haven't moved into the next one yet.  Some days it is liberating.  Some days I get all anxious and shaky about it.

In this limbo period we are staying with friends.  Miss Angela (my friend) is our regular substitute in my classroom.  She is someone I look up to.  She is kind and funny and an all-around good person.  It is easy to be her guest.  It is just hard to be a guest in general.  Hard to not disturb the routines of the hosts.  Hard to have a feeling of solidarity within our own little family while things are not quite stable in a temporal way.

But each night we read scriptures together and remind ourselves of the important things, like being with each other and sharing experiences we have had during the day.  Those are the building blocks of a home.  The physical matters, of course, but the spiritual and the emotional are the real things.

I can't wait to get in there and renovate starting this weekend

I hope your new home is everything you're wishing for. I'm sure it will be beautiful because you have such a decorating flair. Your family is great at making memories. It will be yours through and through before long.

Best wishes for nothing but happiness during the transition.

FG was really cute tonight. We were getting ready for our bedtime/scripture/prayer time when he walked out the front door...I assumed someone had come to pick him up. When we were finished, Beef went out on the porch, and there was FG! I asked him why he was sitting on the porch and he said, I have intruded on your bedtime 2 nights in a row already and I didnt want to do it again. I find I am much more tolerant of him hanging around all day now that he's homeless and I can't just send him across the street;) And I don't mind if he intrudes on scripture time!

He will be very ready to host friends once we move to our place. Thanks for tolerating him!

Sounds to me like home is where ever you all are when doing the things that matter most.

I like how you mentioned you get all "anxious and shaky" because that is TOTALLY how I feel many times during certain moments of my life. I could totally feel that. Transitions are hard...but you'll come out of it stronger and wiser like you do in all things I have learned about you

I'm sure you are the perfect guests!

I'm excited to see some pictures of the chaos. I sorta love pictures like that. It's refresing to see that I'm not the only person that lives there.

I stayed with a friend for several weeks, once, when I was going through a break-up. It's not the easiest way to be, but with good friends I hope it shouldn't be too hard for you to feel at home! :)
