Musical Monday: Bring Him Home
This was a tough one for a few reasons. First, it is sung by a man in the production of Les Miserables. Second, it is a theatrical piece and deserves to be dramatic. And third, it is technically difficult, covering a good range and having a somewhat tricky bridge in the middle. But I love the story of Les Mis. Starting over with the resolve to do right. Then slipping. Then starting over again. Which one of us doesn't live this same cycle?

I love this song. Beautifully done!
What a beautiful voice you have! THanks for sharing.
I haven't listened, but I love this song. I'll be listening when I won't be interrupted by two cute boys asking when I am going to make breakfast.
This is my all time favorite musical--and the song is amazing!
You are amazing - such depth of feeling in your beautiful voice!
All I can say is that Musical Mondays is something that I really look forward to! :-) This is sublime-if sublime can be called a good enough adjective. Thanks, Kaz.
I am so impressed. I had never heard the song, but you sing it with such feeling.
I love the way you sing, very beautiful voice. Soft and soulful!
This is my very favorite piece from Les Mis. I loved your breathy opening. And all the lovely expression in your voice.
But I'm surprised you didn't list as #4 the reason it was tough being the emotional factor of your son on a mission in Kenya. That heart-ripping would have made it tough for me to go on. That's all I could think about as I listened to it: Bring him home.
This was the first real theater show I saw, in London with the original recording cast. Amazing! That song is so beautiful.
Of course, if there is a woman alive who can sing this song, it would be you. I love the little feminine touches you gave it! I also love the story behind this song. It wasn't going to be part of Les Mis originally until Colm Wilkenson came in and sang it for the producers. And that, as they say, was that. The part of Les Mis that has always touched me the most from the beginning (I saw the Hallmark Hall of Fame production when I was 15 and then read the book and saw Les Mis when it hit San Fran) was Jean's sacrifice of Cosette to this man he really didn't like and this song embodies that so well.
Definitely one of my favorites that you have done, Kaz. Beautiful!
I have to admit, I came back and listened one more time and started to cry. I love this song and you sing it beautifully!
