day 361: sage as a symbol

I look at the sage brush on the side of the freeway and wonder if anyone has ever walked through it, cooked it.

It is grey/green and scruffy everywhere, like fur running up the hillsides.

It is a symbol of the struggle of the early people here. It still grows as a reminder of how hard things don't go away, they just become a part of our own landscapes.

Yes, they do.

Hard things don't go completely away, that is true. Probably a good thing, huh.

I like your prospective on the sage brush. I always think that it needs to be pulled out so that some thing prettier can be planted.

Love it. And love sage. I walked past some hiking last week and also wondered if people every just came up and cooked with it.

Suddenly craving stuffing!

So true.

Very thoughtful.
We do get used to some of the hard things in life.
And sometimes we don't.
That's when we pull out the stuff (like Jenny said) and try and plant something prettier.

Thanks for the perspective. As I have been dealing with some difficult things lately, I get frustrated that the hard things seem to keep growing and now it seems they have overtaken all the good. I hope to someday trim down the sage in order to find that it isn't so bad.

Sage brush is such a symbol of home to me. How many hours have I driven California/Utah back and forth looking at nothing but sage brush and mountains off in the distance! This is a great analogy.
