visions of sugarplums

they stand up and say this poem with a twinkle in their eyes.
and i say, "louder guys!"
I remind them that moms and dads will be listening.
we hang glittery ornaments from the ceiling.
we will have cookies and punch and handfuls of art projects to take home.
i will sing with them and smile at them.
and no promises on the tear ducts.
then it will be christmas.
and i will remember that not all of my gifts are under the tree.

Not all of your presents are under the tree and you certainly don't keep your gifts hidden there, either. You share them with the kids you love, who are a gift to you. :) Thanks for sharing those gifts with us.

I love it! Most of my gifts are not under the tree, either.

Well said! I can't think of any gift that could be wrapped would mean more to me than the blessings I already have...truly.
Thank you!

I am counting down the days until your program. I can hardly wait. I bet there might be a few tears.

Love the events building up to the 25th---they're the best part of the holiday and definitely make great presents.

I'm sure the program will be lovely! Nothing better than cute kiddos at Christmas time. (Or anytime).
My 4th grader got to help the Special Needs class at our school yesterday and he LOVED it! He was so excited that he got to help a little boy practice writing the letter J. :)

Your kids sound so wonderful...I'll bet it will be the best Christmas program ever!

And may I just ditto Lisa? She always says things perfectly.

DeNae | December 8, 2010 at 8:40 AM

Beautiful, again. (And I'm with Becca; I can't see the poem. Is it like the Magic Eye for literary types? tee hee)

Kazzy | December 8, 2010 at 2:27 PM

This is just a wordle, which takes the main words and randomized them. But the main point is that the recite something, which is very cool for my kids.

But the poem is called Christmas Eve.

Kimberly | December 9, 2010 at 3:10 PM

Oh that last line...just resonates with truth. You truly do have the best job ever.

Jenny | December 10, 2010 at 5:55 AM

Cute! This is a wonderful time for to listen to the words of children.

L.T. Elliot | December 11, 2010 at 5:10 PM

Another beautiful poem from Kazzy. I remember so many "special ed" Christmas celebrations. They were very special and so are you.
