Musical Monday: I'll Be

This was a fun song to record, but it was right on my breaking point in my voice, so I seriously had to do the first sentence ten times to not have it crack on the word "eyes". I always wondered why Edwin McCain didn't hit the big time.  I have listened to some of his other stuff, and he is very talented.

Click on the title below, and check out the sidebar jukebox too.  I will be changing it up here and there.

Also, thinking about what I can find an instrumental track for, please leave a request in your comment.  I keep a list, so if you have requested before, please do so again.  I just go by what feels right, after I see what is actually available.  Thanks.

I'll Be

Kazzy's voice has been silenced by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act(see the details here). Sorry you can't listen to her sing directly. But send her a message and she'll try to work something out.

OK, seeing as I am a professional voice teacher and have listened to literally hundreds of singers, both as soloists and in groups, I've developed such a refined ear it only took me something like SIX of these posts to figure out this was YOU! THAT'S why you were talking about collaborating on something together! Honestly, Kaz, I'm a menace to society.

What a beautiful voice! And now I have to figure out how you did that!

I always think of that one, Tiff. Thanks. It is surely on the list. I am having a hard time finding good accompaniment that I like, but I will keep looking.

A few songs from the musical Jekyll & Hyde that I love to sing:

"A New Life" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rejU9L06uFQ

"Someone Like You": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4-F1pgkp_8

"In His Eyes" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sK4WsjmrJZU

"Once Upon a Dream" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auERYWXu6Z0

I think you would do a GREAT cover of the song "Bewitched" from the Broadway show "My Pal Joey." I have a Frank Sinatra version that I adore: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q9uGwaREp_0&feature=related

More in a moment...

How about "Always on My Mind"? Or a funky cover of "A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes"? "Endless Love" would be fab. "From a Distance"? (If you notice that these are in alphabetical order, you might rightly assume I'm going through one of my favorite books to sing out of...)

"Longer" could be fabulous--have you done that one already? How about "Moon River"? That could be tremendous. "Return to Me" is a fun one to sing. "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" is great but too hard for me personally. :)

"Some Enchanted Evening"? Have you done "Tears in Heaven"? If not, you should. "A Time for Us"? "Try to Remember"? "The Way You Look Tonight"? "You Light Up My Life"?

So many other possibilities in this great book! It's called "150 of the Most Beautiful Songs Ever" and it's lots of fun.

(A note about "Bewitched" : there are TONS of cool, jazzy versions on Amazon.com MP3 area, including some instrumentals. Just search for "bewitched bothered and bewildered". How about that Ella Fitzgerald? Fabulous.)

J- you rock the party! I am going to check all of these out. Thanks, friend.

I adore Edwin McCain! Neil and mine's song is These are the Moments and while there are several versions his is the best.

You did lovely on this one!

Oh, and I second the request for Summertime! Love me some Ella!

Beautiful as usual, Kazz! I'm blanking out on the request. So since I just got back from Hawaii--- a Hawaiian song like "The Hawaiian Wedding Song?" or "Beyond The Reef" :-) It will be kind of different. I think your voice and style will actually be perfect for it though.

My ears didn't find any cracks. Beautiful.
