day 292: wet mercy

Yesterday I was standing in the kitchen talking to my boys when I looked out the back glass doors and noticed that there was a column of rain coming down right in the middle of my backyard, on a sunny afternoon.  At first I thought it was a sprinkler from the neighbor's yard, but then I realized it was coming straight down and had an almost silvery dream-like quality to it.  I asked one boy to go out back and see if I was right, and the other boy to run out front onto the driveway.  Nothing.  No rain falling on the east side of the house, just on the west side, under a single puffy light-gray ball of fluff.

I get rained on sometimes.  It is the glowing here-let-me-help-you kind of rain that waters me and leaves me a little better.  It is the kind of rain that quenches my thirst and reminds me that I need nourishing sometimes.  It is liquid mercy.

The universe never ceases to amaze....I figured out how to get you on my dashboard...didn't realize that I had to add on with the manage button under the dashboard...breakthrough!... now I can enjoy your singing more often! best, Susan

That's just how I feel when i know something is true. . . like a personal shower of warm rain washing over me. :)

Love the analogy. But where did the water come from? Inquiring minds need to know. Maybe it was a midwest thing? My dad served a mission in Minnesota and one day he saw that it was raining on the farm to the left of the road and NOT raining on the farm to the right of the road. He said that was when he learned about the power of prayer (and that not all farmers pray for rain like they should).

I love those kind of rains. Summer rain when the sun is out is beautiful!

Umm wow. That is kind of strange. Still, this metaphor is beautiful. Lately I have felt blessings pouring from heaven, a warm rain that comforts and reminds me of how blessed I am.

Your own private sprinkler for a short time. Fun.

Liquid mercy...wow...you are such a poet at heart. There's something in your words today that stirs me up into big smiles. Love.

Now that would have been something to see and to experience!

It sounds so cool! I wish I'd have seen it got a photo.

I love when that happens. Out front, rain... out back, dry as a bone.

It's been so hot (over 90 for the last 7 days) and dry, we could really use a full yard shower...I think the trees are thirsty, and need a little wet mercy.

This! This is why I love your writing. This is why you were my numero uno example of sublime brevity. Love it!

I love the whole "meaning " behind this post.
We all need some liquid rain
refresh us
something to build upon

So cool...we have rain like that here too...raining in the front yard but not in the back or snow even.
Maybe Heavenly Father likes messing with us sometimes too...just because He can. I know I do that kinda stuff to my kids when I can--keeps 'em on their toes!

I love when rain does that. Pouring and then, across a line, completely stopped. Sometimes we get just the rain we need right where we need it, right?
