day 310: old testament tendencies

Between the time my oldest son received his mission call to Kenya and when he actually left, I had an Old Testament time of it.  I am not one to get sick often.  As a matter of fact, I am usually pretty hardy, and don't use up my sick days.  But I have never been as sick as I was in September 2007, ever.  In my whole life.  Pregnancies added up, flu bugs, etc.  For three weeks I could barely leave the house, because of stomach pains and knots and convulsions.  You get the idea.  Fevers, chills.  I also had boils all over my body.  Boils.  It hurt to get dressed, to move, to sit, to stand.  Man.

Obviously I have not forgotten about it, even three years later.  I have written about it here on my blog before too, because it really affected me that much.  Big things coming = big trials to match.  Now, in this summer practicum I am killing myself over for my licensing, I have all of a sudden developed allergies.  Never had allergies before.  Ever.  No nose blowing.  No sneezing.  But now, when I am observed for 3 hours a day as I stand in front of students and deliver direct instruction I have a weeping eye that is itchy and swollen beyond words, and a nose that has all of a sudden turned into Vesuvius.

I guess these are meant to challenge my resolve.  Pass the Clariton and bring it on.

Sorry they finally got you. I didn't get hay fever until I was thirty. It took me a while to figure out that it was more than a cold.

I hope you get things figured out soon so that your eye will stop bugging you. It's tough to be your best when you don't feel your best.

Thanks, R. I would settle for 2/3 my best!

I use Zertec every day. I think that stress has all kinds of side effects. Sorry for your trials.

Sounds like a fair amount of stress manifests itself like a monster on you.
Hugs and hang in there.

Go and buy a neti pot and use it....they are amazing for cleaning the allergens out of your sinuses. A little hard to try but well worth the effort. I am always so glad when I use it.

I didn't get allergies until I was on my 2nd pregnancy. And in many ways, that child has been a little trial...

Great advice. Thanks, guys!

Be grateful it's not hot flashes you're experiencing in front of everyone. Now THAT is the same as having boils! (No pun intended)
Hang in there!

I don't remember reading about your sick period before. That sounds terrible. And I suddenly developed allergies a few years after we moved here. Isnt' it weird how strongly your body can be affected by something you can't even see? Ugh.

I get allergies all the time. The last two days I've spent trying to ignore the sinus headaches and always swollen, red, itchy eyes. Anyway, I can relate, and I'm sorry.

:) Good for you! You'll get over it. Hang in there!!

I very distinctly remember how sick you were 3 years ago. I'm still convinced it was due to a run in with cryptosporidium, which I sent home with your boys after taking them to the swimming pool. My bad. :(

I'll take the blame for the allergies too, if it helps you feel better.
