tasting with my eyes

Colors mean something, and I am not just talking about the way red symbolizes anger or blue calm. I can taste them. Really.
Colors in a room.
Colors on a plate.
Colors in clothing.

I would get nauseous during my first pregnancy when there were two clashing shades of green side by side. I have never heard of anyone else that had this happen before. I had to really be careful with sunglasses I wore. Too much of a tint one way or another could send me running to the bathroom.

My bedroom walls are curry. My master bathroom is pomegranate. Butter in the hallways. Deep eggplant on my bed. Metal squares of patina surrounding my dining room mirror.

The balance of vibrancy and clean angles with minimal distraction. Again, in a room. On a plate. In clothing. This is the yummy challenge.

I was just talking about personality colors with my family today. I think my personality colors are reflected in my decorating (or lack thereof...) Are yours?

This post made me hungry. :) Love the image you chose - so perfect. And I would love to see your house.

I was just reading a blog the other day and she said that the color yellow makes her want to throw up right now. She's pregnant. Isn't that crazy? I've never heard of that before.

I am a 'white' wall person but I think that is going to change this year.

I can't taste colors (no matter how much I appreciate them!), but I did have a horrible reaction to anything brown when I was pregnant. One high hormone day I tore down the brown living room curtains left by a previous owner.

I don't taste colors, but all of my memories are 'filed' in blocks of color. I remember once I was trying really hard to recall a woman's name, and I absentmindedly said, "I can see it...her name's purple."

"Purple?" my friend said. "You know someone named 'PURPLE'??"

Well, no. But that's what color her memory is!

Incidentally, in case you're wondering, you and Gideon are kind of an orangey glow, and the block you're filed in is narrow and long. No idea why.

Eggplant, curry, butter? No wonder you can taste the colors!
Why do we say that some people are colorful? I had an uncle who had colorful language, anyway that's what we said, and believe me, his language didn't make me hungry at all!

Little by little we're making our white walls colorful in our home.
OK, I'm rambling.
Have a happy new year!

Eggplant and curry in your bedroom says indeed you taste color. This is really interesting to read how color affects you.

That's crazy! I've never tasted color. I think it's awesome, though. You're very in tune with your senses, I think.

Is DeNae crazy or is it just me? HAHA!! I'm kidding. But that's one thing I never knew about her. I wonder what color her memory of me is? Probably a light golden-brown color.

Well, now you can say you've met, rather talked with, a person who has the same reaction to colors. When I'm pregnant, I would feel more sick when colors were too bright, words were too small, and all other types of odd things. It was unusual, as you said, but it has led me to more temperate tastes.

Maybe someone has said this already but there is a name for this condition. Some people can "see" music, some can hear things that can't be heard. How interesting! It just makes you even more special.
