out cold

We have spent days cleaning closets and sorting through years of things.  It takes it out of you, not just physically, but emotionally.  I was up by 8 today doing laundry and washing dishes.  Standing at the sink I thought about the things that tie us down, not necessarily in a too-much-junk kind of way.  Plenty of these things are important reminders of what we have done and where we have been.  China from my grandmothers, handmade mother's day cards from my sons, love letters.  So much of it matters to me.  But so much doesn't.  Throw it out, I said this week, more times than I can count.

To get a little break from the house I drove my son to his cello lesson today.  After dropping him off at his teacher's home, I drove down to a sandwich shop, grabbed some food, and sat in my car reading "Old Cape Magic" off of my iPad.  I am liking it so far.  The warm Winter sun shining in the window made me feel a bit sleepy on the drive home.  With all of this week piled up in my head, I walked in, said Hey to my husband as I passed the den, then fell right onto the bed for an hour long rest, still clutching my purse and my iPad.

Good week.  Good day.

that is one well deserved nap!

this is the first place we've lived for more than 2 years - and after being hear nearly 9 years I am afraid of the amount of JUNK we've accumulated. we have no plans to move anytime soon... but I certainly need to do a little "throw it out" therapy just in case...

Wish I could have joined you ;)!Exactly what I'm feeling right about now. Especially after helping Kelsey buy her very first car on her. Hopefully it all turns out.

Hey, you skinny little thing! I hope you had a good nap and feel refreshed to face the day tomorrow. There are lots of things to do to get ready to move. It's exhausting.

Packing for a major move definitely turns into personal archaeology.

Afternoon naps are the best. Hope you woke up refreshed and ready to go.

I'm quite a throw-it-out-er. Maybe making up for when I was a kid and never threw anything out. I hope you keep up your stamina (physical and emotional) and get all the naps you need, too!

Wow, that is tired, still clutching your purse and the iPad. Sorting and cleaning and preparing is a great thing after the fact. But right in the middle of it oh my.

De-junking (we call it "easy weight loss") is my favorite part of moving. It's been too long since we had a reason for that kind of deep weight loss. I could use it.

Oh the many kinds of tired you must be! It takes such a toll, but the lightening effect afterwards...ah...so sweet.

I bet it's so theraputic now to look at the things you've cleaned out and feel that extra space!

You definitely deserved that nap! You were one exhausted woman! :)

Good luck with everything. Packing up to move is one of my least favorite things to do...although it does definitely feel good to get rid of things.

It sounds like you have way too much on your plate!
Glad you could get some deserved quiet time.

It might be the pits right now, but you'll be glad when your Spring cleaning is already done for you.

Needed naps like that are the best.

I love the colors of paint on your walls!

I love those kinds of naps! And you're right; there are a lot of ways to 'let go,' aren't there?

I can relate to this post. I'm trying to sort through my mother's papers and its a nightmare! She kept everything. It has made me more determined not to hoard.

Hopefully you napped with all the sweet memories of your life and home........
It is hard to throw some things away. So we just have to TUCK them in our hearts and keep them safe there forever.
