Musical Monday: When It Rained

Maybe I had rain on the brain this week, but while I was driving in my car running errands I cranked this one up and thought maybe I could try it out.  I had to mess with the key a little to make it work, and I still ended up having to hit some low notes, but it is a gorgeous song and I had a great time singing it.  Click on the title below.

That's you singing?? WOW!!!

Yes, it's a gorgeous song! Beautifully melancholy. But i don't think I'm familiar with the original. Who recorded it?

OK, I have to learn how you're doing this, because I have a couple of daughters who really want to record some music. You have such a beautiful voice, Kaz. I was humming the low notes with you; since I had my tubes tied a few years ago my voice dropped a good half-octave! (I'm sorry - TMI?)

I'm pretty sure the version I'm familiar with is by Josh Groban. I like her version too though. Do you just get Karaoke tracks to sing to?

Uber mellow!

Kazzy | July 11, 2010 at 11:37 PM

Yes, it is a Josh Groban song.

Heather- Thanks!

Mar- It really is melancholy, which is pretty much me lately. :)

D- I would love to walk you/ them through it. I use a sound mixing program that is really user friendly. I have a really great mic too. And maybe that tying really does help with those low notes!

Randal- I just find karaoke tracks and mix them to work for me. I change pitch sometimes, and then I use other effects, like fades, etc.

H- thanks for your continued support. :)

Beutifully done. I have never heard this song before.

I love the little bit of rasp near the end. Feeds the emotion.

Kazzy | July 11, 2010 at 11:58 PM

The rasp is always involuntary. I fianlly gave up after the 5th or 6th take and just let it go. Sheesh.
