Musical Monday: Let It Be

Paul McCartney wrote the lyrics to Let It Be as a song of peace as The Beatles were facing their imminent break-up. With his deceased mother, Mary, as a symbol of calm and understanding this song ended up being the last single the group would record. It was released in March 1970, when I was in kindergarten, so I ended up learning about the Beatles just after they disbanded.

These lyrics can almost serve as a hymn to us. Slow down, relax, and let it be...

Just beautiful...I love Mondays. When I listen to your beautiful voice I close my eyes and pretend that you are right here beside me. You are special Kazzy and I love you.

Oh how perfect! My Mary it totally into the Beatles right now. Interesting info about the song. . .for some reason I always think it is George Harrison singing that song (or is it? I assumed it was Paul b/c you said he wrote it . . )

I like this version even better than the one I saw on Sesame Street about 10 years ago. "Letter B" by The Beetles.

The original is pretty good too. You treat it very well here. :)

I think your soothing voice gives exquisite justice to this song. And I can totally use the message in my life. Sometimes it's best to stop from all my struggling and yearning, and just have peace and be still...

I was excited to hear your Musical Monday. I love that song....do you watch American Idol, do you remember Brooke singing it last year. So if you were in kindergarten when that came out------you could be my daughter. I love you dear little daughter. And in this life, we do indeed just need to "let it be"

I think it's so cool you do this! I love that song...have you seen "Across the Universe?" It definately has some weirdness, but the interpretations of many of the Beatles' songs are breath-taking and goosebump-raising--especially "Let it Be." If you haven't seen the movie, you should at least find the soundtrack or download of that song, you'd L-O-V-E it!

Let It Be was Ryan's (my friend Molly's son) favorite song. His dad and brothers plan to have the words tattooed on their backs (in crosses) this summer. Your version is terrific.
