my own

I have been doing a lot of driving lately.  Up and back to drop my son off at work, and then, on some days when my husband can't make it, up and back again to get him a few hours later (the price of sharing 2 cars between the 3 of us).  I also take my youngest to his cello lessons each Monday afternoon.  Like the great mom I am I wave goodbye when he goes in and flip the switch on my nice electric seat and lean back for a little snooze.  Or sometimes I use the half hour to catch up on some church emails or even call my mom or sister.  Time well-spent, even though I watch the other moms go in and out of the teacher's house with their own children/students.

During these past 3 weeks of intense chauffeuring I have come to appreciate my one-on-one time with that particular passenger I might be transporting.  Also, the alone time on the one-way is not so bad.  Sometimes I pray.  Or I sing.  Really loud.  Or I just think.

I like myself more in my 40s than I did in my 30s.  I can be alone and be totally satisfied.  But at the same time, I appreciate family and good friends now more than ever.

I am coming into my own.

I do love the one-on-one time in the car...and I can't wait to hit my 40s. :)

On the opposite side..I am the piano teacher who watches the Moms wait out in the car while their child is in having lessons from me. I have watched time and again those moms taking some important 'me' time. I get it.

I enjoy my quiet mornings when the yahoos all leave for school.
I do not enjoy running errands all day long in the car though. The yahoos will vouch for that...I like to leave the house once, get it all done, and then come home and stay there. Time away from the house stresses me out because there's always so much to do, ya know?]
Summer Break starts tomorrow, and I am so stinkin' happy to not have carpool for 3 months!
And one last thing, I loved my 40s so much more than my 30s. Fifty is pretty dang good too.

You make 40 sound just fantastic! I should make 20's sound fantastic, I'll work on that.

I love that alone time in the car. Sometimes it's an incredibly productive time and sometimes it's just the "loud singing in the car" time. Which is a great, great time!

I often wonder what I'll be like and how I'll feel when I hit my 40s. I've heard there's a contentedness with self and I'd really like to reach that place. :)

I'm with E. CUTE SHOES!

What a cool are creative.
Funny how that works as we get older...we are more comfortable with ourselves and like are ALONE time...and yet, we feel the value of family so profoundly and can't wait to be surrounded by them.

You are a good mom !!!!!!

We've already had most of this conversation, so I'll just say I'm so lucky to be sharing this 'coming into our own' time with you. My 40s have been amazing.

I, too, can't wait to hit my 40s!

It's good to feel comfortable in your own skin. I think you've got it down!

I love car time with kids. I've always tried to take advantage of them being captive with me. Talking, laughing, singing together.
